I just got off of a month playing Metro Exodus and its DLC. Such a fantastic game. I'm currently eyeing the next game in line and these are my options. Since I can't seem to decide on my own, I'll leave it up to Era.

Spoiler alert: I predict the one that starts with an N is going to win out.

re8 is a nice palette cleanser in that it's short (around 10-12 hours for a leisurely playthrough). nier a is the best game on that list, i've not played scarlet nexus yet!

Play Nier automata route A
then RE8
than Nier route B
And the rest of Automata

Nier is god tier but very repetitive and could use a game breaker between route A & B

I did not like Village or Scarlet Nexus, but I did like Nier: Automata. So I vote Nier!

Nier: Automata is the my pick for Game of the Generation for the PS4/XOne generation.

Nothing else released between the launch of the consoles in 2013 and the new consoles in 2020 comes close for me.

I was going to say Village but actually yeah, it's this. Nier is fantastic but marred by a severe dip having to replay most of the game on route B, so that would be a great palette cleanser.

Nier route A, then Village, then the rest of Nier

I would say ScarNex was good.

Did you play the first Nier?
If you enjoyed that, then Automata is an easy recommend. Otherwise, Scarlet Nexus is good but you must be ok with anime stuff.

I have not! I don't even own it and don't feel like shelling out another $60 right now.

A new copy is currently $40 actually

That said, it's not mandatory to play it before Automata just so you know, it's not a direct sequel. It just enriches the experience due to some of the references to the first game Automata has

Nier Automata is a lot better than the other two.

My vote is for Nier Automata. Pretty great game with one hell of a soundtrack.

Followed by Resident Evil Village.

Nier Automata really sticks with you. I finished the game a few months ago and still finding myself randomly thinking about the ending and getting a little teary eyed.

This is actually a very good plan. Do this.

if you just got off an FPS, I'd say do Nier then RE8 after. I don't think Scarlet Nexus is as good as Nier so I'd put it off myself.

I disagree. Playing routes A and B back to back adds extra contrast to the important beats in B.

Also Village is good, but I would volunteer most other RE's that haven't yet been played ahead of that one. But yeah OP, go for Automata if you haven't played that.

Scarlet Nexus really isn't very good. Feels more like a stage based action game/VN hybrid instead of a JRPG with exploration and world that feels lived in.

Play Village or Nexus, then listen Automata's soundtrack on Youtube. That's how you get the best of both worlds.
